A Local Dog Walking Star Story

We have been quiet online lately but behind the scenes we have actually been busy with walks and visits. To kick-restart our online presence there is nothing better than to be talking about one of our doggy stars: Bandit!
When I met him for the first time he was an unruly ball of energy. He was loud, he had no patience and he would pull like a train. But with training incorporated into our walks he quickly became the most well behaved dog i know. And I’m not just talking about the usual tricks! He is actually very good at following directions: from getting him to go into a specific direction, to look for a specific toy that we lost in the grass, to even not touch anything accidentally falling onto the ground unless given permission (yes, even food!).
Breed: Husky cross Shar Pei
Age: 9
Backstory: When he was just a young dog, Bandit was found shut into a cave in Spain. He had already had a couple of owners when he ended up in the shelter, but his life turned around when he was adopted by his human parents, who absolutely adore him!
Personality: There is a drama queen hidden in his fur. He’s opinionated and short on patience and he’s always jumping on a chance to tell you with his constant talk.
Bandit has been part of our dog-walking adventures for seven years, and every walk with him is quite the entertainment! He is the client i have been with the longest and his parents have become family. Bandit has known me since before i got married. In all this time he has also seen me become a mother and my daughter has grown feeding him treat on our walks. Now that I’m pregnant with my second I can’t wait to see them all run together in the field.
Likes & Dislikes
Loves: barking his opinion and demanding bum scratches
Favourite activity: chasing a tennis ball
Favourite treat: anything you are eating but don’t want to share with him
Favourite friend: Shaun the husky-collie mix
Most adorable habit: Gets the zoomies every time he sees my husband — running straight past my daughter and me without a glance, even though we’re the ones with the treats!
Biggest no-no: Nail trims and towel drying his legs (he’ll allow it but will file a complaint with the management)
Least favourite treat: bananas
Funny fear: Anything plastic that moves with the wind!
A Special Story
I will never forget the day we came across a deflated balloon hanging from a bush in the field.
If you ask Bandit, he’ll tell you it was definitely alive and coming for him like the Terminator.
In reality? There wasn’t even a breeze — it just lay there, lifeless, tangled in the branches.
Bandit’s first move was to scare it off with his loudest bark… but the enemy didn’t retreat. He was flabbergasted! We were on a narrow path, bushes on both sides — trapped. The only way forward was to pass right by it.
I walked ahead, acting completely unfazed, to encourage him. But the moment I got close, Bandit realised I might leave him behind — so he shot past me at full speed. Once he reached a safe distance, he spun around to bark a warning: “It’s after you now!”
That’s when he realised disaster had struck.
In his desperate escape… he had dropped his beloved tennis ball. The panic was instant. The ball and I were both in danger. The balloon could pounce at any moment!
So Bandit did the only heroic thing possible — he summoned all his courage, charged straight past the enemy, and rescued his most treasured friend: the BALL!!!
